Product Description

Vocabulary Cards are wonderful tools for helping children develop their oral language skills. Use these cards to teach vocabulary, to play sound games (like I Spy), for sorting work (like sorting pets from transportation), and for writing/artistic inspiration. Each vocabulary packet includes 12 eco-laminated cards (32⁄3” x 4 1⁄3”) with photos that clearly isolate their subject, rounded corners, a reusable storage bag, and a reference sheet that lists the names of all subjects and presents a sample lesson plan.

These packets contain the same photos as in our matching and 3-part cards but in a slightly larger format and without the distraction of the written word. These are the best way to introduce vocabulary to pre-readers. By having vocabulary cards, matching cards, and 3-part cards on your shelves, you allow the 3-year old, 4-year old and 5+ year-old to work on the same "topic" but with the right level of challenge for their abilities. The gorgeous photographs in these packets captivate children and adults. All photos clearly isolate their subject. (All subjects are North American unless otherwise specified.)

Each packet includes 12 cards printed with photographs on the front and nothing on the back. Each packet comes with a small control chart with mini-photos and vocabulary names for teacher reference. Cards are approx. 3¾” x 4¼” and have rounded corners. View our free lesson plans for detailed instructions on how to use these cards.

Beautiful photos of objects the child sees every day including traffic light, fire hydrant, pay phone, barricade, bench, street light, crosswalk, telephone pole, gas pump, mail box, and parking meter; 12 subjects; 12 cards total

Laminated with child safe and eco safe laminate.

As a teacher, ALL of these cards are invaluable to the teaching/learning process. We've used these in my school from 2nd grade through 8th grade.

Teachers Perspective
By B. Rodriguez  –  April 11, 2010
I was a teacher for two years before my son was born and these cards were so important to the children. It helps the brain relate a word to an actual object. My husband bought me these cards for my students three years ago and I still have them today. I use them with my one year old at the moment. Your baby can read has similar cards for much more expensive. These are worth the buy!

They really teach!
By Cathy L.  –  April 09, 2010
The set comes with cards that have rounded corners (nice) and there is nothing on the card except the subject being taught. I homeschooled my children and used so many of these sets. This particular set was quite a bit of fun for my children. I used this set for pre school and the 1st grade, but I think the 2nd grade would also be appropriate. You also get a large laminated poster and a card for you (the teacher). I think that these would be valuable even if you are not homeschooling because your child will learn, and he/she will enjoy the process and interaction with you. Every other system of this type is too babyish for grade school children. Also, it is so nice that you are able to access a lesson plan!
